"After Work, Late at Night" by André van Haren

The title "After Work, Late at Night" describes this piece to a tee. Working nights as a dishwasher, I came home, tired and longing for my bed. For a brief moment I sat at the piano to relax and the main melody of "After Work" presented itself. There was no way for me to go to sleep after hearing it, and "Late at Night" as it was, I wrote down most of the melody. This first version was for piano solo. After that I wrote a version for violin and piano. The third version was written for full orchestra, and upon request, I wrote the version heard here for string orchestra.

"After Work, Late at Night" is the first movement of a six-movement suite called Moments.
