"La Luxure" (Lust) first depicts the sensuous object of desire as the original theme is transformed into a sinuously seductive melody in the piano. When the last chord of the piano fades alluringly into the background, the bassoon enters with a solo that expresses an almost impossible yearning for the object of desire, underscored by a long arching crescendo and decrescendo.
