This sonata is a small triptych in sound. The first scene is a fantasia movement in moderate time. The second is a cantabile adagio and the third an allegro fugal movement to be performed with unequal notes as in the French Baroque manner.
My inspiration was a more ancient mode than I usually follow. I had no specific composer in mind, just an early Baroque style with a blend of French, Flemish, and Italian flavors.
