David Warin Solomons ~ "Dodo titite" Suite

The first movement (download from above link to hear) is a simple statement of the "Dodo titite" lullaby melody on which the whole sequence is based. It is written in such a way that it can be used as a separate piece for novice performers to learn on as well as introducing all the more complex riches of subsequent movements.

The last movement, "Dansons mais sans oublier" ("Let's dance but we should not forget"), uses the melody in a complex and jolly dance rhythm alternating seven-time with four-time, possibly also reflecting the scurrying of the crab at times. It fades out to a restatement of the original simple statement of the melody, thus rounding off the entire suite.
